Strengths-Based Therapy

Hi, I’m Sarah, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Over time, many of us begin living according to stories that were written for us, rather than by us. Whether those stories were shaped by family, culture, relationships, past experiences or the ways we’ve learned to survive, they can slowly pull us away from ourselves. I believe therapy offers the space and opportunity to pause and  explore those stories with compassion so we can begin to write ones that feel more authentic to the people we are today.

My goal in therapy is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard and accepted- not because you have everything figured out, but because you don’t have to. I approach each person with curiosity, openness and the belief that your experiences make sense in the context of what you have lived through. We’ll explore your story, honour the strengths that have carried you this far, and gently make space for new possibilities. Whether you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about yourself and the patterns in your life, I would be honoured to walk alongside you. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can meet yourself with greater compassion and rediscover the parts of yourself that may have been hidden beneath expectations or survival. Therapy should allow you to leave each session feeling a little more connected to who you truly are.

My work is grounded primarily in Narrative Therapy, which views people as separate from the problems they experience. Together, we can explore the stories, beliefs and identities that may no longer be serving you. Simultaneously, we can reconnect with the values, strengths and hopes that have always been part of who you are. I also incorporate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy and Trauma Informed care, so we can tailor therapy to your unique needs and goals. I support people across all walks of life who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, intimate partner violence, emotional overwhelm and many other concerns. Having with with individuals from diverse cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds, I am deeply committed to providing culturally responsive care where every part of your identity is respected. Being a bilingual therapist, I offer therapy in English and Urdu. I believe language should never be a barrier to feeling understood, and I am passionate in ensuring mental healthcare is more accessible so you can express yourself in any way that feels truest to you.
